š Why I took the summer off
Happy Friday everyone! After a little break, Iām back to share some updates with you.
Why the long break?
Maybe itās because Iām half French or maybe it was something else, the truth is I donāt have a great reason. Writing is really hard. Despite having a system in place to research and write my newsletter I was still struggling for traction on things. Nothing helps you clarify your goals and what you want like writing it down.
For example:
A few years ago I spent my 30th birthday over Zoom with a few friends. Stuck in lockdown at the height of COVID. I remember being bothered by not owning anything. I rented where I lived, I leased my car, I had no assets except for a pile of student loan debt. Thatās when I created my wishlist.
I wrote down things I wanted and dreamed big. A Tesla, a home with at least 2 acres, my student loans forgiven, an Eames lounge chair.
Fast forward to today, I own a Tesla, and Shirakaba Studio (on 10 acres), and the Dept. of Ed is working on my loan forgiveness post lawsuit settlement.
How bizarre is that!?!
Call it manifesting your destiny or whatever youād like, itās absolutely bonkers. I think part of writing things down is it just gets you thinking about what you want and helps you keep that top of mind. (Iām still waiting to purchase an Eames chair.)
Jim Carey did something similar; at the beginning of his career, he wrote himself a $10-million check for āacting services rendered,ā dated it for Thanksgiving 5 years from then, and put it in his wallet. Then in November 1995, Carrey was cast in the movie āDumb and Dumberā for $10 million.
Write down 5 things you want right now.
They can be big goals like making $10M USD or small things like a new coffee maker. Get them out and get them on paper. I think youāll be amazed at what visualization can do for you.
What else is new?
At the start of summer, my partner and I decided to āhave a chill summerā and keep work to a minimum. This workedā¦.kind of. When you let things go in life you give yourself room for other opportunities to come in. Our new clients are amazing and I canāt wait to share the work weāre doing.
Another thing that happened this summer is I got good at pickleball. I mean, really good. Mixing in with pros good. The number one thing that improved my game was consistency. Consistent play a few times a week keeps the muscles sharp.
Thatās also my goal writing my newsletter. Improve my skills, keep them sharp and clarify what Iām after.
Thanks for reading!
I appreciate every single one of you. Hit reply and tell me one highlight from your summer. Also, if you enjoyed this article share it with a friend you think might benefit.
Until next week! āØ
